Jenny Kane is an artist and educator whose practice spans painting, photography, and writing. While studying fine art and education at Mount St. Mary's College, Jenny spent her summers working in Yosemite National Park. After college, she spent thirty months in the Peace Corps teaching English and doing community outreach in Thailand. After returning home to California, she taught outdoor education for three years and completed certifications in both yoga and massage therapy. Currently, she spends winters in Joshua Tree and summers leading wilderness trips in the Sierra. Jenny’s art practice is inspired by her work in urban and wild settings. She spends as much time outside as possible
As a backpacking guide during the summers for Southern Yosemite Mountain Guides (SYMG), she works primarily in watercolors as she carries all of her gear over hundreds of miles of trails. These landscapes and portraits reflect her passion for poetry, her love of movement and the expressions of depth and layers within a single moment.
