A weekend of Backpacking basics for Artists of all media and experience levels. Join Jenny for an immersive exploration of the eastern Sierra. We will set up a backcountry basecamp for two nights. Bring your journal, camera, writing tools, pencils, watercolors, and/or portable painting kits.
The backcountry experience will enrich your artistic practice beyond words. For the past ten year, it has done that for me. I am excited to share my experience as a guide in the Sierra and facilitate this weekend for a small community of friends and like-minded souls.
The trail and itinerary will be approrpriate for beginning backpackers. We will spend the first night at lower elevation at a campground, for a group dinner and to adjust to the altitude. Afterwards, we will hike to a beautiful alpine lake and set up a basecamp for two nights. You can choose to paint and hang out by the lake or explore surrounding areas during the day.
The fee for this trip will cover our group food, wilderness permits, bear canister rental, and other gear rental. Jenny Kane has been a professional mountain guide for nine years in the Sierra. Along with her Wilderness First Responder certification, she has thousands of miles of backcountry experience, guiding the John Muir Trail and multi-day expeditions for both Southern Yosemite Mountain Guides and Mountain Travel Sobek.
